The City of Evanston, Illinois will issue $25,000 in reparations payments to 44 residents, as part of its $10 million reparations program approved in 2021, which aims to provide housing assistance to Black residents who lived in the city between 1919 and 1969. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has also criticized Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas while defending the city's reparations task force.
