Cases of 'white plague' rising in US as doctors warn of 'rebound effect'
Tuberculosis (TB) cases have been rising in the U.S. since the COVID-19 pandemic, with over 10,600 cases reported in 2024, the highest annual number since 2013. The increase is partly due to undetected or untreated latent TB infections during the pandemic, as well as increased international travel and migration from countries where TB is more prevalent.
